Helping students understand and engage with the innovation process, especially the special conditions of inclusive innovation, from both a theoretical as well as practical perspective

Anthropogenic climate change is one of the defining global environmental challenges of this century. Policy-making for complex environmental problems (like climate change) requires harmonizing knowledge and action in the scientific, socio-economic and political domains. The objective of this course is to help students explore the complexities of climate change policy-making in a world characterized by scientific, economic and political uncertainties and to understand that science itself is in part determined by social and political context in which it arises.

This course will introduce students to various theoretical approaches to study science and technology policy. It will explore six identified themes central to understanding science and technology policy processes and outcomes, and study how different theoretical approaches seek to overcome the challenges in each.

This course will introduce students to basic concepts of policy making, how policies are crafted to meet societal objectives or developed in response to societal challenges, and what factors might determine their success, with science and technology providing the context for understanding the above.

This course will familiarize students with the emerging discipline of STS (Science and Technology Studies) and introduce them to the sociology and social theories of Science & Technology.

To introduce students to current and ongoing debates on challenges posed by various aspects of globalization and debates therein. Globalization is impacting our everyday life and this course enables us to understand how social-cultural, political and economic aspects of globalization interact and are shaping the emergent world.
