The economics unit, housed in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers M.Sc. and PhD in Economics and a minor programme for the B.Tech. students.
M.Sc.
The Department offers a two-year full-time Master of Science in Economics. Applications are invited from highly motivated UG students who envisage careers in academia, government, industry, and civil society organizations.
Ph.D.
The department offers a PhD program in seven academic disciplines (Economics, Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Policy, Psychology, and Sociology). The PhD program consists of both full time and part-time students.

Minor in Economics
The unit offers Minor area in economics for B.Tech students. The minor area in Economics has two main goals. The first is to acquaint engineering students with the basics of economic theory that are required for an understanding of working of an economy. The second is to allow students to build basic competence in the application of this theory in various fields of economics.
