Special provision for 15 additional seats (in addition to the 25 seats through the JAM examination) only for the year 2024-25: The admission to these additional 15 seats will be through an entrance test to be conducted by the Institute in IIT Delhi. It is open to all eligible candidates as described in the prospectus (https://home.iitd.ac.in/pg-admissions.php ). Students who have taken the JAM exam already, are also welcome to sit for this exam. Reservations for the additional 15 seats will be as per the institute's norm. Applications for all PG programmes (MA/ MSc/ PhD) at IIT Delhi is expected to open on 20 March 2024. Admission Process for M.Sc.

Eligible candidates can apply through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). Please check the JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) brochure for the eligibility criteria and application process. The facility for the Online Registration and Application will be available through the website provided by the organising institute (changes from year to year). Please check the advertisement on print and other media for further details. Usually, the application portal opens sometime in September.

JOAPS Registration

A candidate has to first register on the JOAPS website. Upon successful registration, an E-mail containing the candidate’s Enrolment ID will be sent to the E-mail address provided by the candidate. Apply for the JAM examination online.

JAM examination

Download the admit card and write the examination on the scheduled date. You can view answers, marks and JAM score on the portal after the publication of the result.  Download the JAM scorecard.

Application

Based on the test paper(s) qualified, an applicant can apply to one or more academic programmes covered under that test paper(s), subject to fulfilment of the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) of the Admitting Institutes. After the JAM results are announced, a qualified candidate should apply ONLINE only using the prescribed Admission Form available at the JOAPS website, irrespective of the Institute where the admission is sought. The period for submission of the online Admission Form will be announced by the JAM authority.

Registration

Please check the declaration of the List of Admission (first, second and so on). An intimation will be sent by the Organizing Institute to the candidates concerned. Follow the instruction for registration in the programme. Candidates should note that being in the Merit List of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Admissions shall be made in the order of merit and depending on the availability of seats at the Admitting Institute(s).

Admission Process for PhD

Admissions to the PhD. programme at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) are held twice a year. Applications are usually invited in March and October each year and the selection process is completed in May and December. Intake in particular academic fields will be determined by the advertisement that is put out each time.
